Chapter Seven

The next morning as Sarah lay in bed, there was a knock at her hotel door. Hurrying from her bed and pulling on her robe, she opened the door to find Joanne standing before her.

"Joanne! Good morning! You're in town early."

"I was hoping we could spend time together before you headed to work."

"I'd like that." Sarah said with a smile, "Please, come in."

"I hope I didn't wake you."

"No, I was just lying in bed thinking about all the changes from the past few days."

"I don't blame you! It's been wonderful, hasn't it, Sarah."

"It's beyond wonderful, Joanne! First, I realized that God loves me, and now I am getting married to Paul. I am amazed how quickly my life has changed and become so full."

"God is such a loving God, Sarah."

"If I never learn another thing about Him, I will always know that."

"He has done so much for the both of us!"

"Yes, He has Joanne."

"And now we are to share our wedding day."

"Thank you, Joanne, for allowing us to be wed on your day!"

"Our day, dear, our day."

"I'm afraid if I pinch myself, I'll wake up and realize it's all a dream."

"It is a dream, dear. It's a dream come true."

"In a month, I will be Mrs. Paul Martin!"

"And I'll be Mrs. Neal Faust!"

"This is so exciting!"

"Yes, it is exciting! And a bit frightening also."

"What do you mean, Joanne?"

"As thrilled as I am to marry Neal, I'm also slightly frightened."

"I don't understand. Don't you wish to marry him?"

"It isn't that I don't wish to marry him. On the contrary, I most assuredly do wish to marry him. It's just I don't want to let him down. His first wife was a wonderful lady. I don't know if I can compete with her."

"There is nothing to compete with. He loves you, and that is all that matters!"

"I know that he loves me. I just don't want to disappoint him."

"As wonderful and giving as you are, I don't see how that would be possible."

"It's been such a short time since we came back into each other's lives. What if we are rushing things a bit?"

"Do you love him?"

"Yes, I do. All these years, we have been apart, and I don't think I ever stopped. Not for a single moment."

"And do you believe he loves you?" Sarah continued softly.

"I believe he does, yes."

"I think that is what is important. Not how long you have been back together but how you feel for each other. You love each other. I think that is what counts most."

"Thank you, dear. I guess I knew that all along but needed to hear it."

"Well, I'm glad I could help."

"Listen to me, carry on," Joanne said. "I came here to discuss your wedding gown and instead find myself going on about my worries."

"I love you, Joanne. You can carry on anytime!"

"Have you decided what you are going to wear?"

"Yes, I think I have." Sarah went to her closet and pulled out the dress with the lace collar she had fallen in love with that Grace had bought her when she had first arrived.
